Beginner's Day with Horse

Beginner's Day by Horse is an offer for beginner-level children. The course will make the student safe with horses and learn to care and care, as well as the basics of equine care and handling of horses, which is also very useful for children who are riding lessons. Pupils will learn riding by sitting on a horse without a saddle, with lots of balance exercises and instruction of the correct seat. The horse goes in longe, ie it goes in line controlled by an instructor. This is a great way to train for good and efficient seating and balance in all three gaits. Riding in the longe is regularly used by professional riders to train on the seat and to "become one" with the horse's movements.

  • The children should be dressed for the weather as we move outdoors and indoors.
  • Read about riding equipment for proper clothing.
  • Bring a packed lunch and a drink bottle to the joint lunch from 2pm. 12-12.30.

The course Beginner's Day with a horse can be nicely repeated several days in a row. It's good to practice what you learn. Also, riding in longe is individual instruction, and a student who comes back several days will thus have the opportunity for progression. The course can also be taken only one day.

Time at 12-15.30. A joint lunch from 2 p.m. 12-12.30.
Number max 8 pcs.
Age from age 6
Price DKK 500, - (minimum 4 pcs for the course to be held at ordinary price).
Payment in advance from 11.45 the same day to ECT employee with bag, or at the ticket booth.
Attendance in the riding hall at 12.00 for registration.

What will happen in Ekebergparken?

In Ekeberg Park we have a great diversity. Here people have lived since the Stone Age who have left traces in the landscape. In recent years, the park has received many sculptures that are placed in the landscape. At the summer school we investigate both traces of older times and newer art, from carvings through sculptures to installations. In the park's own workshop we make our own art in different themes. We explore the shape and form, the nature of the place, the myths and the fairy tales, Edvard Munch's connection to the place and go exploring.

Climbing Park: At Ekebergparken's visitor center and workshop we have our own climbing park which is at the disposal of the children, we also have a cultural trail and many exciting activities for the children to enjoy during the activity school.

Art and cultural communication in the Woodpecker: We focus on interdisciplinary activities such as art, history and the environment: We use the Visitor Center for History and Nature. The children are taught redesign and will be able to make art from recycled material. We use the forest as our own showroom. We are inspired by artists in the park and use the artists' methods in our projects.

Nature Trail: Here the children can experience and read about nature in the Ekeberg Forest, as well as answer questions about nature, art, history and animals. This is a fun way to get to know the area!

What will happen at EKT Equestrian School and Animal Park?

EKT is both a riding school and a visitation farm located on Ekebergsletta. EKT Riding School and Animal Park was established by Edvin Kjell Thorson at Ekeberg in 1954. Since its inception, EKT has been one of the country's largest riding schools and arenas for equestrian sports. EKT has always had different animals that roam freely around the area, for the benefit of children and people in the city.

Horseback riding, care and handling: The children learn about the care of the horse and the horse's body language through theory and practice. In the stable, the children get a brush and get the horses ready for riding. The kids will get to try out in different gaits through a simple form of riding. There will be a focus on balance, safety and mastery in sitting on moving horses.

Get to know our most common pets: There are ten different breeds of livestock in the EKT Livestock Park, and these children will become better acquainted with through feeding and care. We explain how to move around the animals, why different breeds need different care and have different needs. It's time to have fun with the animals. We also emphasize learning through assignments and free play. All animals move around freely and can be folded.

All managers at the summer school have relevant education, first aid courses and long experience working with children and young people.
